Snorkel trail on Björnö

At Torpesand, Björnö Nature Reserve, has Skärgårdsstiftelsen a new norkel trail. At the rocks a varied environment under water is offered, sandy bottom with vascular plants, cockles, fine cut bottoms with bladderwrack and mussels. A snorkel trail is a nature trail in the water, where visitors snorkel along a trail and read the information boards under the water. The trail at Björnö is about 200m long and consists of 15 information signs that are all affecting the Baltic Sea environment and its species.

The signs are anchored in cement blocks fitted with handles so it should be easy to maintain itself. The signs are on the 1-3m deep and are marked by buoys at the surface.

Between each plate at a bottom line indicating the trail routing.

For the information to be available to as many possible is the information in Braille, tactile text as well as a regular information text with image. Information signs are also available on land.

So that everyone should be able to use the trail, the bridges are designed with a ramp and a ladder with handrails on both sides. A paved path that is adapted to accessibility leads from the parking lot down to the docks, where there are also toilets and changing rooms.
